HAY DRIVE FOR THE ANIMALS
Hay prices have become absolutely astronomical up and down the West Coast and California has been hit the hardest. Square bales are now $30 per bale, twice what we were paying just last year. And our suppliers have said that they will soon reach $50 a bale.
The animals require three bales a day or nearly 100 bales of hay every month. This now costs $3000 but the cost will soon skyrocket to $5000 each month. That is just for hay. We still have to budget for other types of feed, supplements, medications, routine veterinary care, and all of the other expenses that go along with operating a farm sanctuary with more than 100 animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and slaughter.
Our current budget was based on $15 hay bales which was what we were paying not long ago. With hay prices increasing $35 per bale in just a few months for the first time ever we are fearing for the future of our sanctuary.
We have layed this all out for you to explain why we need your support now more than ever. This is an urgent plea to help keep the animals happy, healthy, and fed while inflation threatens to shut down sanctuaries all across the country. Many sanctuaries are rehoming animals and even shutting their doors. We would do anything for these animals but we need your help and we need it now.
The most impactful way to support the animals is to become a monthly donor. Whether you can give $5, $25, or $500 a month every single dollar helps us help the animals.
