The Roosters Are The Father Figures Of The Rescue

The Roosters Are
The Father Figures Of The Rescue

Whether or not they have fathered chicks, Roosters are loving protectors of their flocks. Much like our own Fathers, Roosters care deeply about their families. That care is apparent in everything they do. From excitedly dancing to present a new treat to always keeping a watchful eye and alerting others to every thing they see.
This Father’s Day celebrate your own Father by sponsoring one of the amazing roosters here at the sanctuary as a gift to him.
Blueberry
Blueberry was found outside, alone, fending for himself in the wild. Fortunately he was captured by a kind human and brought here to the sanctuary. Despite his injuries and traumas Blueberry is a kind and gentle boy who with time, patience, and love we know will thrive!

Colorado
Colorado was rescued from a large cockfighting bust several years ago. He and his brothers were mutilated and forced to fight to the death. Fortunately Colorado survived but he has experienced unimaginable trauma he is still working to overcome to this day. Not long after he arrived at the sanctuary he began showing some neurological symptoms and was diagnosed with Mareks disease. We were heartbroken to learn that after all he has been through Colorado has a deadly disease for which there is no cure. Our vets offered euthanasia but we wanted to give Colorado a chance to live. And that he has. Two years later he is almost symptom free with very occasional flare ups that we help him manage with supportive care.
