UNPRECEDENTED STORMS CONTINUE TO FLOOD THE SANCTUARY

The unprecedented storms throughout California continue to hit the sanctuary hard. So far we are without snow but the rain, wind, and hail came down all night and the sanctuary is flooded once again. This storm has also knocked out our power leaving the animals without fresh water or heat during these freezing temperatures. All major roadways in and out of the sanctuary are closed down making it a challenge to evacuate or get emergency supplies to the sanctuary.

All of the animals are now safe and have been moved to higher ground. But this is truly a worst case scenario and we are in crisis mode. We need your support now more than ever.

Our immediate needs are:

  • Funding for increased straw and additional bedding to get the animals through these cold nights without heat.
  • Funding for increased gravel, wood chips, pellets, and mud mats to combat all of the mud beneath the floodwaters.
  • A solar generator system. We have known we have needed this for some time. However they are quite expensive and it has quite simply not been in the budget with everything we have had come up. But this disaster has reminded us how desperately we need one as it is quite simply not safe to have the animals without fresh water and heat during these freezing temperatures while our power is out.

Our long term need is a new property for the sanctuary. We have been ravaged by storm after storm and the animals’ pastures have been flooded for two months now. With all of the changes in our weather conditions this space in simply no longer a safe space for animals.

Please help us get through this catastrophe for the animals.
