THE FLOODING CONTIUES AND THE WORST IS YET TO COME
We are preparing for the next disasterous storm but things are already bad. Power is out. Which means water is out. Roads are closed. We cannot get anywhere for any supplies. Propane is out and the propane truck cannot get to us because of the road closures. We cannot get to any of the markets that donate produce and other supplies for the animals because of the roads so they will need much more feed this week. But we cannot get another feed delivery until the roads open up again. Mail service is impacted by the road closures and this is the week we would receive our donation payment check from Meta, which includes all of our donations from social media platforms, and we have never needed this payment more. But it will not get to us until the floodwaters recede and the roads open up again.
The only defense we have had against all of this mud has been bringing in truck loads of gravel every day but even if the delivery trucks could get here the supplier we purchase the gravel from is flooded and closed until further notice. We are trying to be grateful that we are all safe. The animals are safe. Our volunteers are safe. We are safe. But we have put everything into this sanctuary. These animals are our lives. And it is so hard to watch it all be destroyed. There is nothing we can do make it stop. And the worst of it is yet to come. Tonight and continuing relentlessly through Tuesday the weather is taking a turn for the worst. Nonstop atmospheric rivers of pouring rain are forecasted over the coming days. Another flood advisory has been issued for the sanctuary. We don’t know how much worse things can get with the pastures still covered in feet of water and all of the waterways pouring over onto the land. But we are scared to find out. Please help us get through this catastrophe.
