For the health and safety of our flock we have a professional shearer come out to the sanctuary every Spring to shear their wool and keep them comfortable in the Summer sun. This is an expensive service but well worth it for the sheep.
While we are shearing all the sheep we also take this opportunity to vaccinate and do thorough health checks on everyone which is costly in itself.
However this year this process will be more expensive than ever because we need to purchase a new generator to get power to the sheep pasture. Our generator was damaged in the flood beyond repair. Fortunately a new generator will help us with shearing the sheep and many other sanctuary tasks for years to come.
